We invite your paid membership and active participation in the American Guitar Society. This insures that we can continue to serve the Classical Guitar community of Southern California and beyond. We cannot continue our mission and thrive without your help in defraying the cost of insurance, concert expenses, rent, scholarships, honoraria, refreshments, printing and internet fees. (Please note that our AGS officers and directors serve without pay. We are cheerful volunteers.)

Our monthly meetings allow you to engage with other classical guitarists and luthiers (both professional and amateur,) as well as those who appreciate classical guitar music and the history of this field of endeavor. The AGS organization is a great place to share your knowledge and learn from others.
Our meetings provide a venue for members and guests to perform classical guitar pieces for persons in attendance. The skill level of performers at our monthly meetings can range from the elementary student level, to a level of the true professional. Please attend a meeting and experience an appreciation of the classical guitar for yourself.
AGS facilitates and features a “guitar orchestra” where members perform parts in a large group setting under the guidance of our professional conductor, Jose “Pepe” Perez. The AGS Guitar Orchestra presents an annual fund raising concert which is widely attended and appreciated by all.
The activities of the American Guitar Society are funded through your donations, and your membership dues. Thank you for your support!

Richard Denner Memorial Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to community college students who are selected by their instructors for excellence and improved mastery in their capabilities to perform Classical Guitar music.
This award is presented to two students ages 8 years to 13 (Junior Division) and two students 14 to 17 years of age (Senior Division.) Contestants perform at our November meeting and are judged by local college professors at our annual AGS competition event.
